Hello! I'm back from The Secret Truck Thing. Also I heard GPT-o1 came out while I was out. We published the first episode of the Consciousness podcast featuring real experts and not just me. We're doing some research and I am as always, getting back on my feet after about an HBO season worth of highly concentrated main character plot events happened. I/O Psychologists and Psychometricians
Are you an I/O Psychologist or a Psychometrician? I would love to chat about the research project I have been hinting about. I sent you an email and a calendar invite.
Are you just interested in the concept of this research, AGI, Psychometrics and are absolutely positive your unique field and set of interests will allow you to meaningfully contribute, but are not an I/O Psychologist or psychometrician?
You want to attend prompt engineering! You'll learn all about the process of building effective benchmarks there. We'll be discussing the research, and you'll learn quite a bit more in that class. You can help by attending this class and attempting to make your own benchmarks, this is literally the research. We'll discuss the forms of validity in that class, and you are able to contribute to the research by constructing your own benchmarks and having them reviewed. This will help us.
Demo Days
We're going to have cross-research-team demos weekly on Thursdays at 2pm, for the research team only.
Work On Your Website
Do you have a website? Even if you do, I bet it needs to be updated. We're going to do a Work On Your Website session once a week. Mondays, 1PM. All multiverse students welcome.
The end of 1:1s?
I'm teaching 3 classes, and I just realistically don't have a lot of time for them anymore, so they're a bit scarce.
1:1s are now a research team or membership benefit.
For the research team, apply by emailing me. I'll get to you as space opens up.
A Note on The Calendar and Class Lengths
I've doubled the length of many classes, by adding a lab day in between each workshop session. I've found that most senior developers are quite overwhelmed by the pace. This will push some class starts back a few weeks, to account for the extended time to get stuff done and give us some "working together" time. The first session of the week will always be the latest demo & lecture content, and the second session will be a working session. Don't plan to miss these and make them up- everyone needs them, even if you're very smart. It took a bunch of very autodidactic learners confessing to me that they struggled to keep up.
The calendar may be slightly wonky, because I haven't finished shifting later classes in the sequence around. Just had to take a break this weekend and go to some dance parties instead.
The good news is I can't get fired for doing stuff like prioritizing the learner experience. Take THAT traditional academia.
