Multiverse School Newsletter - 06/16
🚀 6/16/24 Multiverse School Weekly Newsletter 🚀
Hey Multiverse Crew,
Multiverse West's main overlap is going to be 7/18-7/22! We'll be hosting a demo day, a hackathon, 2 salons and a values-alignment talk. Also, aforementioned hugs. If you're flying into SF, 7/18 - 7/22 is the time to buy a ticket. We suggest getting an AirBnB to share if possible, as SF is expensive. You've made friends here, text them to coordinate! How many times do I have to tell you to text your friends? How many?
Don't forget:
Families in Gaza need our help.
By the way the next cohort for Prompt Engineering begins June 17 It starts with Using Large Language Models.
The Multiverse Traveler Program is 50% off for anyone working on AI Alignment problems. - here are the qualifying problems or email me for approval on your non-mentioned problem.
Multiverse Students Looking for Work
Everyone here has learned the cutting-edge Gen AI stuff we teach here, but now they're looking for work! Not everyone here has a network and could use your help! Please do me a favor and help these folks out with some introductions! Here they are again in a different order! Order implies nothing, so I'm trying to mix it up every week. They're all fantastic, their main skill overlap is Generative AI.
- Kellyn von Arx : Looking for UX, UI, and Product design, Gen AI. Has some Python & Git experience, some Prompt Engineering experience
- Razi Alawamleh : Looking for Front-End (React & React Native) and Back-End work, Gen AI, Prompt Engineering, and does a great job with Product thinking.
- Eugene "Genie" Hwang : Jr. Dev and Researcher looking for Data and Backend roles. Gene is our most prolific TA who is absolutely instrumental to me in keeping eyes out for new Gen AI research.
- Mea Isaacs : Novel Scale Senior Developer with Robotics and CyberSecurity looking for new opportunities changing what is possible with technology.
- Roan : Looking for CyberSecurity Red Team (pen testing) work, Gen AI work, working with me on The Swarm of Hacking AIs, has Python and CyberSecurity in spades, and TAs at The Multiverse School
- Cameron Sweeney : Looking for Back-End (Python, Math and Stats), Data, Gen AI, Prompt Engineering,
- Liss McCabe : Senior developer, looking for full-stack work in Ruby, Python, React, Gen AI, Prompt Engineering
This Week's Classes
Job Search Standup @ 9am Pacific M-TH
This is on this week. Sign up here:
Monday, June 17
All Devs @ 11am: Plan an AGI
Attendance is Multiverse Traveler Program Only
02:00 PM Effective Use of Large Language Models as Assistants - This workshop covers practical applications of large language models for tasks such as emotional priming, brainstorming, and summarizing documents. Participants will learn the differences between market and open-source models, the role of tokens in inference, and how to use effective language in prompts to improve performance. Sign Up
Tuesday, June 18
All Devs @ 11am: Identify the integrations for an AGI
Attendance is Multiverse Traveler Program Only
02:00 PM Effective Use of Large Language Models in Analysis and Critique - This session focuses on utilizing large language models for editing, data structuring, and understanding model limitations and biases. Participants will learn to configure inference outputs using hyperparameters, apply Chain of Thought for better reasoning, and use models to analyze data and critique plans. System Prompts customization and knowledge decomposition techniques will also be covered. Sign Up
05:00 PM Agent Prompt Engineering - Explore effective, role-based agentic system prompts, create personas, and tackle goal-based problem-solving prompts. Sign Up
Wednesday, June 19
CyberSecurity @ 11am: Continue to hack on The Hacking Swarm (I got my Kali Linux up on my windows pc finally) Attendance is Multiverse Traveler Program Only
02:00 PM An Unhinged Guide To Transformers with Teja Sunku - A deep and often unhinged dive into transformers, statistics, data science, and math where we code transformers and other deep learning mechanisms from scratch. Attendance is Multiverse Traveler Program Only
02:00 PM Effective and Ethical Use of Large Language Models - The final workshop session emphasizes ethical considerations and the alignment of model outputs with human values. Participants will explore the use of Critical Theory, Reflection, and Metacognitive skills to enhance model reliability and quality. The session also covers creating a rubric for language models, using the Expert Reviewers strategy for model evaluation, and optimizing prompts to mirror expert-level queries. Sign Up
06:00 PM Storytelling & Narrative Alignment with Francina Simone - Storytelling, Narrative, and Character development with Francina, who helps debug your creativity and your personal narrative, and work on your stories. Attendance is Multiverse Traveler Program Only
Thursday, June 20
All Devs @ 11am: Identify the workflows for an AGI Attendance is Multiverse Traveler Program Only
05:00 PM Retrieval Augmented Agents - Learn to write recursive summarizers, retrieve knowledge, and reflect on agent actions, as well as add tools to your agent. Sign Up
Friday, June 21
12:00 PM Storytelling Hour - About actually telling your stories, and getting to have other people hear them. Technology has a strong oral tradition, most people learn a lot from the stories of others, so we like to share what we can about life, tech, and our own journey. Francina will choose on Wednesday who will speak on Friday, so be there if you want to tell a story! Attendance is Multiverse Traveler Program Only
Complex Adaptive Systems & Game Theory
The reading for this month is: Complex Adaptive Systems: Part 3: Computational Modeling, Chapter 6: Agent Based Objects
Part 4: Models of Complex Adaptive Social Systems: Chapter 7: A Basic Framework, Chapter 8: Complex Adaptive Social Systems in One Dimension We'll record the first week of July
Upcoming Tracks and Classes
Intro to SQL & Advanced SQL: Cancelled
We'll cover some of this stuff for those of you who are trying to build webservers, but we'll cover more AI-related SQL and it'll help you cover this material in a faster, cheaper way. We might run a community-led class on this.
Prompt Engineering - Spring Cohort
Intro to Agents starts Tuesday, June 18 05:00 PM
This is basically the class where we go from scripts, to agents, with agency, who act autonomously. Surprise! It's as difficult as onboarding a new employee.
Prompt Engineering - Summer Cohort
Using Large Language Models starts Monday, June 17 02:00 PM
Kicking off our Summer Cohort with some deep dives into Using Large Language Models.
