🚀 5/12/24 Multiverse School Weekly Newsletter 🚀
Hey Multiverse Crew,
Families in Gaza need our help.
It's break week, and this week I'm moving to San Francisco! I am beyond thrilled. I lived there from 2011?-2018 and was devastated ever since. Every time I go back I remember how much I miss it. Thankfully someone who went to Hackbright (and who has since been able to afford to buy in San Francisco) offered to rent me their studio! I'm moving on Wednesday! I'll be driving down, then likely running Prompt Engineering on Thursday from my car or will somehow have gotten in to SF by 5pm.
I am pretty sad about the circumstances of my sudden move, but trying as usual to look forward to the change. I'll be in the center of the singularity, which is kind of the main mythological-style narrative that I heard about growing up. My dad was a big Ray Kurzweil fan, and would talk about The Singularity as a sort of digital era marker of hyper-abundance. Now that we're here... well I can't deny things are escalating exactly as predicted, but the actual transition with humans won't happen any faster than humans can adopt technology. Remember how long it took everyone to have a website? I know quite a few very-cutting-edge folks who haven't tried AI. The only real X factor here is AI itself- will an agentic AI society emerge from autonomous agents? What will that society do, given their ability to think faster than we can? What will the particularly impactful nature of memes and the human ingenuity to create them do to a society composed of language? These questions are the mental playground I'm increasingly distracted with. By the way the next cohort for this stuff begins June 17.
If you're in the bay, I'm arriving for and therefore doing Bay to Breakers, let me know if you have a group going!
