Multiverse School Newsletter - 03/24

March 24, 2024

🚀 3/24/24 Multiverse School Weekly Newsletter 🚀

Hey Multiverse Crew,

I've returned from seeing my friends in SF! I got very little done over the last week, but feeling more like myself since I got to see my friends.

This Week's Classes Begin the 9-month Prompt Engineering Track

On 3.26.24 we're running a class on Using Large Language Models and it's part of this Generative AI track. We'll add a bit to it based on Gen AI Art soon. We dropped prices to only $60, and as always Multiverse Students get access to all published classes.

It's also part of this broader Prompt Engineering track, which goes from 3.26 - 11.21 (yes, it is 9 months of material). It runs nights and weekends. I ran this last year so some further-out dates are subject to change as the singularity approaches and technological advancements rapidly shift under our feet. Some principles remain the same, and I think I have them down as a series of tools we can use.

Job Search Standup - Schedule is Weird This Week

We're Back! Sign up here.

Wednesday and Thursday I'll be running things at 8am Pacific. I know, I will also be tired- but I have a corporate client that pays for the scholarships so I gotta do it.

Let me know here if you got a job, it helps me out and makes me want to keep doing this.

Program Updates

You can register and pay for for upcoming classes, and there's a dashboard where you can manage and see your registrations and what you've paid for.

Scholarship Opportunities

CS Master's Student Fellowship Program - For Master's Students, do a complex, non-trivial project involving cutting edge AI that you can bring some newbies along with to see a really cool thing get made, get a major break on tuition

Executives - Run a cutting edge project at the forefront of AGI and then publish it and help it get monetized. Goal is a financial return on the investment of your time as well as a transformative experience of your leadership practice and is often an emotional breakthrough experience. Ask anyone who has gone through it. Major price break on tuition for the contribution towards a project.

Underrepresented in Tech - There's a special price on every page, self-select into this group please, it's 30% off for you. Please discuss further needs with jordan@themultiverse.school or tag@themultiverse.school. We can't do 100% scholarships but we can offer some substantial discounts given a description of your circumstances.

Learn to Code Bootcamp This Summer, Begins June 3rd

Here's the Learn to Code bootcamp. This will be a more structured, code-together program, so if you're looking for that, come hang out.

Artificial Intelligence and Agents Track Kickoff Tuesday @ 5pm

Here's the entire track. You will need to know how to code. If you want to know all of this and you don't know how to code, enroll in the Learn to Code Bootcamp as well. If you're going to take all of these classes you may as well sign up for the monthly membership.

This is the part of the track you don't need to learn to code for. We'll probably add more here soon about how to use low-code no-code things.

This is the part of the track you need if you understand how to use LLMs, and how to code, but not create autonomous agents.

Complex Adaptive Systems and Game Theory

The First Episode is Live The Second Episode is Live! It's a lot of me talking this time, it's sort of the pre-reading and introduction to the next set of readings.

Readings for this week's recording: Chapter 5 of Plato: Team Reasoning and Conditional Games Part 2 of Finite and Infinite Games (No One Can Play Alone), pages 42-72 in the pdf

Storytelling is becoming NarrativeCraft

Storytelling is morphing into a new kind of thing. Many of you are working on your own personal narrative, and creating algorithms for both Gen AI and your own mind that will cue you to live in the story that you write, instead of the story others are writing for you. The goal of this next series (beginning March 27th, and now on Wednesdays) will be to craft, then step into your own Heroic Epic.

This Week: "Unblocking Creativity: Navigating the Creative Process for AI Generative Applications”

What You Will Learn:

  • Recognize and differentiate between various types of creative blockages.
  • Explore the root causes of creative blockages within the context of AI generative applications.
  • Engage in self-reflection exercises to identify personal creative blockages.
  • Gain initial strategies and tools to address and overcome identified blockages.

Titles of the next four workshops:

  • Cultivating Inspiration and Mindset Resilience
  • Navigating Uncertainty and Iterative Exploration
  • Collaborative Problem-Solving and Creative Expression

Junior & Senior Devs:

This week we'll plan for the April Project Sprint. We won't meet Wednesday or Thursday during the day (but please come to Using Large Language Models in the evening, it will be highly relevant).

We'll talk about how to harden and defend the server, things we might want to do to improve it, and start using it for real, and keeping our bots up. We'll do the Paradigmatic task of defining the minimum requirements for bots by doing some red-teaming and catastrophizing (which isn't always bad! haha)

I'll sponsor the OpenAI tokens for the bots we collectively decide to merge to main. I'll give students who have developed an agent access to the server and monitor their bot (after I make an image so we can revert things if someone breaks something). If you haven't turned in an agent as a PR, no access for you until you do!

Research Teams:

Currently I have the following projects on my radar. Please let me know if I have a project wrong.

  • FamilyTraditions: A cultural culinary archival project, group type, focusing on preserving Middle Eastern cultural culinary traditions. It uses OCR to digitize recipes and leverages ChatGPT for natural language processing to generate shopping lists and save details about recipes still in development, with a focus on portable, open storage mechanisms. Has an assigned Executive, Elena Vid

  • TreeOfAttacks - Network Compromise: A group project aimed at identifying and analyzing network vulnerabilities and attack vectors to develop defense and mitigation strategies. Has an assigned Executive, Liz Howard

  • TreeOfAttacks - Reverse Engineering: A group project focused on dissecting and understanding the inner workings of various software and systems to identify vulnerabilities and methods for enhancement. Has an assigned Executive, Ari Lerner

  • Automated DM: A personal project for developing an automated direct messaging system to streamline communication processes. Has an assigned Executive, Liz Howard

  • Life Gamification: A personal project applying game design principles to everyday life for motivation and productivity enhancement. Needs an Executive, Currently Liz

  • Community Automation: A group project by Matthew and Al focused on creating moderation and community management bots in a chatroom environment. Liz Howard

  • JASON: A group project developing a Job Search tool that builds a custom resume for each job application, based on a comprehensive resume.json that includes all your duties and works. Has an assigned Executive, Rahul Sethi
